Opta Supercomputer's Verdict: Arsenal Cruise to Title Glory While Chelsea and Liverpool Stumble in Top-Four Chase

Opta Supercomputer's Verdict: Arsenal Cruise to Title Glory While Chelsea and Liverpool Stumble in Top-Four Chase

The Opta supercomputer predicts Arsenal to dominate the Premier League title race despite Carabao Cup distractions, while recent draws and defeats dent Man Utd, Liverpool, and Chelsea's top-four hopes. Aston Villa remain strong contenders, but Chelsea face Europa League at best. At the bottom, Burnley and Wolves are doomed, with Tottenham, Forest, and West Ham battling relegation.

Premier League Weekend Shake-Up: No Wins for the Euro Chasers

Picture this: the Premier League's big hitters Arsenal and Man City are off at Wembley sorting the Carabao Cup, leaving the rest to scrap for those precious Champions League spots. What a farce it turned out to be. Man Utd kicked off with a dodgy 2-2 draw at Bournemouth, Liverpool got done 2-1 by Brighton, and poor old Chelsea shipped three goals in a humiliating loss to Everton at Goodison Park.

None of the hopefuls nabbed three points. It's like they all turned up hungover from the night before. Time to see how the Opta supercomputer reckons this lot's messed up their Euro dreams.

Title Race Locked In, Top Four? Not So Much

No shocks here – the boffins still fancy Arsenal to lift the Premier League trophy, giving them a whopping 97.77% shot at glory. They're sitting pretty on 70 points, projected to hit 84.8, miles clear of Man City's 61 and 74.47 expected. Mikel Arteta's lads could land a proper psychological haymaker in today's Cup final, just weeks before their league showdown at the Etihad.

Down the top-four pecking order, Man Utd cling to third with 55 points and an 86.25% CL chance, despite that Bournemouth slip. Aston Villa are hot on their heels at 51 points (66.68%), Unai Emery's crew having banked early gains even if they've wobbled lately. Liverpool drop to fifth on 49 (27.33%), but England's UEFA coefficient keeps their CL hopes flickering post-Brighton debacle, as Arne Slot plots a comeback.

Chelsea, though? Oof. Liam Rosenior's mob are in sixth on 48 points, with just 13.39% odds of top four. That Everton thrashing's kicked them into Europa territory, staring down a brutal fixture list. The likes of Brentford, Everton, Newcastle, and Brighton are scrapping for Conference League crumbs – 3.64%, 1.37%, 0.73%, and 0.53% respectively. As Peter Young reports in Football Italia, it's a right old dogfight back there.

Relegation Rollercoaster: Spurs and Forest Sweat It Out

At the bottom, it's grim reading for the trapdoor trio. Burnley and Wolves are as good as gone – 99.90% and 99.94% relegation probs, with 20 and 17 points. The Clarets' latest tonking at Fulham changes nowt; they're just racing Wolves to avoid the wooden spoon after Wolves' early-season nosedive.

Up a notch, Tottenham (30 points, 12.67% down), Nott'm Forest (29, 32.11%), and West Ham (29, 48.44%) are in a proper pickle. Sunday's clash between Spurs and Forest could be a relegation six-pointer – winner breathes easy, loser heads into the international break with the jitters. Hammers, one point from safety, are favourites to join the drop zone per Opta.

Wembley Looms Large: Arteta's Big Swing

Whilst all this unfolds, eyes are on Wembley where Arsenal face Man City in the Cup final. As the Evening Standard via OneFootball highlights, it's got echoes of 2018 – Arteta as Pep's sidekick in City's 3-0 romp, kickstarting Guardiola's trophy haul as Wenger bowed out. Now, with City fading and title talk swirling (Gunners lead by nine, mind one game extra), a win here catapults Arsenal towards quadruple whispers.

Arteta's waited six years for silverware with fans – lose, and the apprentice tag sticks. Beat Pep, though, and that Etihad trip loses its menace. Proper stakes, lads. The supercomputer's cold logic meets red-hot drama – who's buying the beers if Arsenal smash it?
